Our in-person worship service at 9:30 AM does include singing, the use of masks is not required, though you are welcome to use one. We offer fellowship with food after the worship service for any who would like to stay and catch up with church members and friends.
We understand that the decision to attend in-person or online is an important one and that many other concerns factor into that decision. We are glad for you to join us for worship in any format.
Here is what we do to help provide a clean and safe house of worship at downs UMC
- Members who have had Covid exposure in the last week, or are experiencing symptoms are asked to stay home for that Sunday, join us online for that week instead.
- Rooms are regularly cleaned between each use.
- Hand Sanitizer are available at the entrance of the building. Masks are not required, but they are available at the front of the building.
- A row of chairs is placed at the back of the sanctuary for those who have a need to sit a bit further away.
- All chairs are moveable and you are welcome to move your seat anywhere you feel comfortable to do so.
- An average In-Person Sunday sees around 100 people in a sanctuary designed to seat 400. Expect double that number for holidays and special events.
- We also offer worship online (at this website) for those who need to stay home for any reason. The service is recorded and then edited (for sound quality) by our staff and volunteers and usually uploaded by or before Wednesday following the Sunday service.
