COVID Safety at Downs UMC

We do ask all attendees who are sick, or who have had known Covid exposure in the week before a Sunday to stay home and join us online for that Sunday. We look forward to seeing you again in person and thank you for helping keep the congregation safe.

We understand that the decision to attend in-person or online is an important one and that many other concerns factor into that decision. We are glad for you to join us for worship in any format, but we want to let you how the church is responding to Covid.

  • Rooms are regularly cleaned between each use.
  • Masks and Hand Sanitizer are available at the entrance of the building.
  • Our staff, volunteers and congregation members have been asked to remain home if they are experiencing any symptoms.
  • Chairs in the sanctuary are placed in rows that have greater spacing between them to allow for better social distance.
  • A row of chairs is placed at the back of the sanctuary for those who have a need to sit a bit further away.
  • All chairs are moveable and you are welcome to move your seat anywhere you feel comfortable to do so.
  • We offer worship in person on Sunday at 9:30 AM: It does include singing, and we do have an optional fellowship hour with doughnuts and breakfast items.
  • An average In-Person Sunday sees around 100 people in a sanctuary designed to seat 400.
  • We also offer worship online (at this website) for those who need to stay home for any reason. You can watch it live at 9:30, or watch a recording anytime during the week. We have a good group of people who join us online, and you are very much a part of the church when you join us digitally.
