He is a student of church history, and believes strongly in the importance of a narrative understanding of faith and identity in Christ. The sermons on Sunday morning are Bible based, but with an emphasis on discipleship (how do we live out our faith?). Teaching at the Downs United Methodist Church focuses on both Christian Piety (loving God with all our hearth, soul, mind, and strength), and Christian Mercy (loving our neighbor as ourselves). Only with a balance of both faith and action, can we truly live the life of faith.
